Hello there! Anyone missed me? 🙂
Unfortunately, I’ve been very busy with school and life that I wasn’t able to blog in the last remaining months of 2014. Talk about unintentional hiatus. *sighs*
To welcome the new year I decided to start by posting my bookish/blogging resolution. ^^ I don’t really make resolutions so this will be a first and I hope *crosses fingers* that I’d be able to at least accomplish half of what I will put here. I’ll try to be realistic and not put “finish 365 books this year” lol. 😀
1. Get out of my comfort zone and read a book from a genre I’ve never tried, ever. Or maybe avoided.
I am a very cheesy girl. I like the fluttering of hearts, feeling what the protagonists feels, and seeing love between two characters that’s why I usually go for chick-lit, realistic fiction and romance books. Other genres intimidate me, and sometimes it overwhelms me that I tend to give up and put them down. So for this year I decided to finally try historical fiction, and to read more fantasy and sci-fi books. I may not be a good judge of fantasy books, but hey, who cares right? ^^
2. Accomplish at least 3-5 blog post per month.
My workload at school is no joke and sometimes it’s hard to squeeze writing blog posts into my schedule. I still read books during my leisure time, but submissions and research papers are my top priority so for me, accomplishing this every month is enough.
3. Attend at least one book event or signing again. And drag friends, especially blogger friends. 😀
Last year I attended one event which I think kinda hit me hard. It was fun because I got to see three authors and I met a lot of new friends(Hi Dre, Kate, Irish, Aimee, Dyan, Jules and Nickle!), and VERY tiring at the same time that it made me lose motivation to attend any event again. This year I will try to attend another event again.
4. Arrange my bookshelf and have a list of all the books I own, physical and digital.
Oh my. Oh my. Oh my. This will be a very long journey.
5. Read underrated books.
I don’t experiment when it comes to books I read. Either I saw it on Goodreads, or recommended by a friend, or it could be the talk of the town. The problem is, how do I know which book is underrated and which is not?
6. Meet new blogger friends.
2014 was a big year for me. It was the year I started blogging and the year I met a LOT of new people, online and in real life. It was nice having a lot of people to gush and rant with especially when it comes to reading. Agree? I know. 🙂
7. Read an intimidating/overwhelmingly thick book.
I don’t read thick books and I admire those who do, so if I ever achieve this I will give myself a prize. Does A Song of Ice and Fire or Outlander count?
8. Read a book written by a Filipino author.
Isn’t it better to start exploring your own literature first before trying others?
9. Be a better version of myself.
Be a better blogger. ^^
10. Inspire others to start reading.
I really hope I can achieve everything in here before this year ends. They may be simple goals but aren’t simple things the hardest to commit to? 🙂
Did you make your own resolutions?
