Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She’s finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam’s life.
Unravel Me continues the story of Juliette and Adam after they reached Omega Point. Everything got better, the story was better, the action, drama, the conflicts. I was reminding myself a couple of times as I was reading, this book has offered more than the first book. It was more exciting, action packed and it steamed more passion between the characters.
Reaching Omega Point and discovering that there were other people like Juliette who had abilities wasn’t what she was expecting. This place was supposed to be her sanctuary, a place where she can be really free to move and meet people. Free to love Adam and free from the cautious stares and whispers from people who doesn’t understand her. But when she thought she finally has freedom to love and express her feelings for Adam, that was when her lethal touch took a toll on her. She has to choose between what her conscience is telling her or what her heart and body has been craving for.
Juliette’s character improved in this book considering there was war brewing. Although she was still reserved, withdrawn and avoids people at the beginning, she became brave and started relying on herself towards the middle of the story. She also discovered how strong her powers can be, though she still wasn’t able to discover the lengths of of her abilities, she now knows her power was not only dangerous to people surrounding her but to the whole world. Honestly, I was scared of her. If this kind of being was real, I don’t want to imagine her temper when she gets mad. This discovery lead to a stray in her relationship with Adam. A very heartbreaking twist just slapped both of them in the face and broke my heart. I was surprised I felt tears in my eyes on this part of the story.
One thing I was surprised with this book was about Warner. Just like how confused Juliette was with her thoughts about Warner, I was also having mixed feelings for him in this book. He wasn’t creepy in this book, I was actually applauding Mafi in my mind because of her brilliance in showing readers a different side of Warner. BUT, there was this one chapter in this book where I really want to face Juliette and slap her hard on the face, I don’t care about your powers girl, just one big slap for you! You don’t do that to Warner! Ok, just to be clear, I still love Adam but I pity Warner and just because he was a jerk doesn’t mean he deserved to be played.
Another thing that I liked about this book was the other characters that were added in Juliette’s life, like Kenji and James. Kenji was funny, but a goal driven soldier who was working for Omega point. He did influenced Juliette’s change into someone who stands on her own. James was Adam’s younger brother. These two characters were just too adorable and I’ve loved them as the story progresses.
I enjoyed this book more than the first one, I liked that there were more conflicts and twists that I never saw coming. The only thing that made me put down the book was lunch, bathroom breaks and dinner. I even skipped my daily series marathon just to see how the book ends. It was so action packed and exciting that I’ve forgotten what I didn’t like in the first book. I’m not saying this book was perfect, this was just better than the first one. I am starting to love the way Mafi writes, her words were cheesy at times but it was touching. Unravel Me will tear your heart to pieces and want to hug Adam. It will also make you feel overflowing passion from Warner. And it will make you ask yourself, Adam or Warner?
