It’s February! The love month or the season of love or whatever you wanna call it. And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I can already see flowers and hearts and stuffed toys everywhere! It’s so exciting!
Don’t get me wrong, I am single and I have been single for quite some time now but that doesn’t mean I hate this season because it’s the other way around, I LOVE IT. It’s like Christmas! But with flowers, and chocolates, and a ton of pinks, reds and whites! I like seeing lovers walking down smiling, or dashing men holding gigantic stuffed toys or bouquets to give to their loved ones. Gives me all the kilig vibes! Because being single doesn’t mean I should mope around and feel bitter that I don’t have someone. I can still celebrate because who said Valentine’s day is only for those in a relationship? LET ME TELL YOU HOW 🙂
SHOW YOURSELF SOME LOVE
Wanna know what I do first thing in the morning? I wake up and greet myself good morning. Then before I take a bath or shower I look at myself in front of the mirror and tell myself how beautiful I am. Yes it does sound crazy, but I do this all the time and it helps improve my morning, especially when the day before ended a bit crappier than the usual. The first person who should love you should be you.
Know the saying “Learn to love yourself, before learning how to love others”? It’s true because how would you know how to love others if you don’t know how to give yourself some love? That way you’ll also learn to never settle for anything less, because how else would you know what you deserve if you haven’t given yourself enough love yet, right?*wink wink* If you’re a lady, go ahead and put on some makeup, and if your a gentleman, go put on the shirt that you feel looks best on you. If you have a bit of time to spare, indulge yourself and go for a massage! If you feel good, you’ll look good.
SHOW YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS SOME LOVE
Believe it or not you have a lot of love inside you. You may feel sad all the time because you think you’re alone, especially on February 14, but you’re not. Look around you! Sometimes the people closest to you are the ones you should shower with love, and you take them for granted because they’re always there.
I believe that “No man is an island.”, and that everybody has someone to be with, family or friends. Believe me because I know how amazing it feels whenever I surprise my dad with my baked goods or give my bestfriend her favorite perfume, because, as cliche it may sound, the smallest gestures are the sweetest.
DO WHAT YOU LOVE, WITH OR WITHOUT SOMEONE.
Have you ever gone to the movies alone? I HAVE, and let me tell you it’s not the craziest thing. I love watching movies, and the thought of going alone has never bothered me because, really, what’s so wrong about it? Aside from that, have you ever tried eating at a restaurant all by yourself? You guessed it right, I have, and it’s not the weirdest thing either. It’s nice to enjoy alone time once in a while because you get to think and reflect about things you’ve never thought before. Doing things I love by myself has never weirded me out before and I think it’s because I focus on it being the thing I enjoy the most rather than “doing it alone”. Get that? I mean I’d rather enjoy myself than think that I’m all by myself. FOCUS ON THE BRIGHTER SIDE. Another plus side to being alone? People watching A.K.A. cute guy watching.
Want another tip to lift up your mood? Try watching Korean dramas, especially the cheesy ones. Sometimes I think these Koreans have a degree in cheesy romantic lines and gestures because they HAVE ALL THE FEELS.
I know that not everyone likes Valentine’s Day and would rather treat it as another day that would pass by. But why let it pass by without enjoying it? It’s one of the few days you could get away with eating a ton of chocolates and candies, so don’t let it go to waste lol! Don’t feel sad and bitter, and instead spice up your mood and eat some chocolate, I swear it helps.
